Winter is almost over and it is time to start gardening!

It is time to start gardening! March is the perfect time to start tomato and pepper seeds indoors! It is also a good time to start planting cool weather vegetables that can withstand those last frost days of March and April.

I just love the Urban Farmer website where you can buy a huge variety of seeds & plants as well as find the best gardening guides and schedules.

Here are some of my favorite guides:

Whether you are a pro or a beginner gardener…

The Old Farmers Almanac  has the advice you need to grow just about anything. Even though this advice is given for the beginner, I feel it is really is the best advice for both pro and beginner gardeners: One of the common errors for beginners is planting too much too soon and way more than anybody could eat or want. Unless you want to have zucchini taking up residence in your attic, plan carefully. Start small. How many gardening pros plant enough to feed the neighborhood? Are you guilty?

Gardening by the Moon Calendar from the Farmers’ Almanac

I always use the Gardening by the Moon Calendar… so far it has not failed me. The Farmers Almanac Gardening by the Moon Calendar is determined by our age-old formula and applies generally to regions where the climate is favorable.
Because the gardening calendar is based on the phase and position of the Moon, it is consistent across all growing zones. Recommended dates are still “weather permitting,” and you should talk with your local greenhouse or agricultural extension office for the optimal window of time within which to use these dates.
